Jason and the Scorchers are one of those bands that defy catagorization or description. Yes, you can say that they are "Country Punk", but that is really selling them short. The best way that I can describe them is, "A hard rock band with Buck Owens on vocals". Now, that description may throw up more than a few question marks, but WHO CARES! Just experience the glory that is "The Scorchers"! I have followed them since 1985, but for the unfamiliar, this is a GREAT place to start! This is a band that has locked in to each other so well, that it is just understood that they will be great, even on an off night. However, this is not the case on this video. Buy this video, and you will know what they are all about. The only reason that I gave it only 4 stars is because I bought the live cd first, and several songs that were on the cd weren't on the video(and vice-versa), so, I admit that I am biased. However, don't let this influence you. The performances on this tape are absolutely essential for all Rock and Country fans. Jason is a MASTER showman, who can draw you into what he is doing with ease. He says in an interview portion of the tape that the band actually faced threats of violence in the beginning for what they were doing with the mixing of Hard Rock and Country(there is even a clip of Ralph Emery(TNN) dissing the band), but I think that was probably when they first pioneered the whole concept. My final words: GIVE IT A TRY! You will not be sorry.
