Product Description

This three part television series explores the extraordinary capacities of American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), the premier company in the world for creating after-market and highly specialized Chrysler Jeep 4x4s.

The end game is to create trans-glacial expedition command center vehicles capable of accessing the most remote and wild kayaking locations in the world by crossing the glacial frontiers in Iceland.

As the industry leader in retrofitting Jeeps for expedition use, AEV owner, Dave Harriton, presents how to successfully push the functional design of the all American off-the-road vehicle --the Jeep, preparing it for the harshest road conditions imaginable.

As the Montana based company AEV collaborates with Chrysler's Jeep engineering team, see in detail how they transform and retrofit stock Jeep Wranglers and Commanders to be able to meet expedition grade specifications while still maintaining the fine road capabilities of the stock vehicle. AEV's goal, in the words of Dave Harriton, is "to build the ultimate in Jeeps - to give Jeep owners what Jeep wouldn't produce."

Part One:
AEV Project Commander
There is simply no time to mess-up. Dave Harriton and his American Expedition Vehicles team have only three weeks to convert a new - just off the factory floor stock Jeep Commander into a trans-glacial expedition command center. With a thumbs-up from Chrysler's Jeep design and engineering teams, the Commander must be re-built and ready to present at the ultimate automotive specialty products trade event in the world - the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Part Two:
AEV Project Wrangler
With only 26 days, the AEV team works to build-out a show car derived from the stock Chrysler Wrangler. Although the Missoula, Montana based company can custom design a Jeep Ambulance or a JEEP RV, this Wrangler will be the second vehicle built as trans-glacial expedition command center for the pending mission to Iceland. But first, along with the Jeep Commander, the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4x4 must be presented at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Part Three:
AEV Project: The Road to Iceland
The payoff - two years after completing the SEMA Show AEV concept vehicles in this episode Dave Harriton, and his team of expert drivers, puts to the test the two glacial crawling Jeeps. Building a car for a show is one thing, building a car that will work in the harshest of conditions when your life depends on it, is another. Dave takes his custom Commander and Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4x4's into the mountains of Montana and with special permission, up the ski slopes of Big Sky Resort. Although the team never actually makes it to Iceland, to everyone, including Dave, the Jeep's performance surpasses expectations.
