I would give this DVD six stars if possible.

In January and February 2005 six fiddle playing ladies from Norway, Sweeden, Shetland, Ireland and USA got together in Norway and did in total six concerts. To support them they had four guys on drums, piano, double bass and guitar.

I was at the last of these concerts, the one held in Oslo. This DVD is recorded in Drammen though. I remember I was amazed after the concert, and I feel really fortunate to be able to experience this again by watching this DVD. The program has a large variety of tunes and songs, and there are always interesting details to notice. But first and foremost this is ten brilliant musicians playing brilliant.

A lot of bands has a good fiddle player, but it's something special with six fiddles, it gives a real groove. Emma H�rdelin may not be a brilliant fiddler, but who cares as long as she sings great and there are five other excellent fiddlers.

The recording is of superb technical quality, and only once, during Annbj rg Lien's solo number on the hardanger fiddle can one hear a little of that hollow sound typical for more average live recordings. The editing is also very good, with some highly dynamic clipping on the intense parts, but also long parts with one single camera so the eye doesn't get veary.

If you like fiddle music, buy this dvd! Even those who think they don't would probably change their minds if they saw this dvd.
