One of my dreams is that in heaven we will be able to live the adventurous and exciting lives we experience in the movies. I wanted to be Alain Delon, to live the life he lived in this film. His best pal: rugged, dependable and faithful to the end, Lino Ventura; his girl: the beautiful and talented Joanna Shimkus (also graced The Virgin and the Gypsy (with Franco Nero and the then young and unknown Judi Dench!)). Maybe it was my art background, but the girl.....the metal sculptress. WHATEVER happened to this beautiful creature? The ascerbic film critic John Simon (who hated everyone and everything) obviously loved Joanna Shimkus, and it is easy to see why. He raved about everything she was in. I find this very endearing.

How wonderful to be the hero who gets the girl and the money, who has tremendous skills and courage and takes risks. Makes my life look kind of....I don't know, maybe a bit disappointing.

Delon was such a good-looking guy, you wished you could have looked like him. A real chick magnet. Seemingly, life would be so easy for someone like this. On the other hand, I saw a recent photo of him, and he looks kind of rough. As Muddy Waters said, you can't lose what you never had.

I'd probably get this film if it was on DVD. I'm a sucker for those French/Italian co-productions, especially the adventure/heist flicks like Sicilian Clan. A lot of cool guys, hot women, great locations, cars and clothes.
